The Minnesota Museum of American Art presents

Minnesota Biennial: 3D II

Exhibition dates: November 17, 2007 – February 3, 2008

 

St. Paul, MN–The Minnesota Museum of American Art is pleased to announce the opening of its new exhibition, Minnesota Biennial: 3D II, showcasing three-dimensional artwork by cutting-edge, contemporary Minnesota artists. Out of 147 entrants, 27 emerging and established artists from across Minnesota were selected. The exhibition features 31 works of art ranging from stand-alone sculpture to installations that demonstrate new relationships between various media and traditional processes.

The juror of Minnesota Biennial: 3D II is Jennifer Jankauskas, Associate Curator of Exhibitions at the John Michael Kohler Arts Center in Sheboygan, WI.  Jankauskas has worked as an independent curator, as well as held positions at The Art Institute of Chicago, IL; Pace McGill Gallery, NY; the American Federation of Arts, NY; and Artpace, San Antonio, TX. Her criticism and reviews have appeared in publications such as Articles, perla, and on Glasstire Texas Visual Art Online, among others.

 

MINNESOTA BIENNIAL FACTS

 

MMAA began hosting juried biennial exhibitions for the state of Minnesota in 2000. Any person 18 years of age or older who lives and works in the state of Minnesota is eligible to submit work to the call for entry. The biennial exhibitions alternate between two-dimensional and three-dimensional art, with the most recent 3-D biennial taking place in 2002. Minnesota Biennial: 3D II is the fourth in the series.
