Education Programs
The Minnesota Museum of American Art offers innovative, interdisciplinary art - and artist-centered education resources for students, teachers and families.

The museum offers regular education programs such as guest lectures, art dialogues, Family Art Day, and multi-disciplinary art performances.

In addition to these programs, the museum offers exhibition specific arts curricula.

The MMAA's curriculum is based upon critical learning strategies that allow students to process works of art in such a manner that encourages them to relate the process of art making, their personal responses to the works of art, and their own critical interpretation of the works, to a broader cultural framework.  We hope to demonstrate the unique and vital role that art plays in society.  Our curriculum seeks to provide students with the tools necessary to achieve, through art, an understanding of themselves as well as others within their community and beyond.

We would also like to invite students to participate in exhibition tours.  Tours at the MMAA assist classroom art education by fostering significant relationships with art that encourages understanding.

FREE guided tours of the exhibition are available for school groups and transportation subsidies may also be available.

To schedule a tour, please contact Ben Gessner, Visitor Services Coordinator at 651-266-1038 or e-mail bgessner@mmaa.org .
