ARTIST PORTFOLIOS An excellent way for artists to introduce their work to MMAA is by sending a portfolio to the curator. Unsolicited materials are reviewed a few times a year. MMAA will send a letter of confirmation upon receiving your portfolio. We do not, however, provide artistic evaluation.
Please know that we are delighted to view your portfolio, but cannot guarantee your artwork’s inclusion in an exhibition or accession into our collection.
To submit your portfolio, please follow these guidelines:
1. You may submit artwork to be viewed by the curator in the form of slides, photographs, or high quality digital images on a CD/DVD. Please label the images with the artwork’s title, date and dimensions. If you are sending digital images, include an artwork checklist with thumbnail images. For video, installation, or time-based works, DVDs are accepted. We cannot accept actual works of art.
2. Please include a letter of introduction, a current curriculum vitae, artist statement, and short biography.
3. Mail your materials to:
Theresa Downing, Curator and Registrar Minnesota Museum of American Art 50 West Kellogg Blvd. Suite #341 Saint Paul, MN 55102
If you would like the materials returned to you, please include a self-addressed and stamped envelope. Otherwise, portfolios will not be returned.
Please contact Ben Gessner, Visitors and Collection Associate, at bgessner@mmaa.org if you have questions regarding the portfolio submission guidelines.
