A Note to Our Current Supporters

Kristin Makholm_Cropped.jpg

Thanks to our generous supporters, momentum is growing to bring MMAA back to audiences and visitors throughout the region. With our new mission to showcase art of the past and present, unleash the creative potential of our community, and inspire the artist in us all, MMAA is poised to reassert our identity and our commitment to the art and people of our place and time.

Over the past two years, grants and contributions have helped MMAA in a variety of ways. These include:

•    Refining our mission and developing a strategic plan to set the stage for goals in the next three years and beyond.

•    Supporting the development of 9 exhibitions including Our Treasures, a touring exhibition of highlights from MMAA's outstanding collection, and a national touring retrospective of the work of a Minnesota artist George Morrison, which will start its tour at the Plains Art Museum in Fargo in June 2013.

•    Preserving the outstanding art collection that has been a part of MMAA since the 1950s, including storage, insurance, maintenance, and collections care.

•    Completing a full inventory of our permanent collection and properly cataloging each piece into our secure database.

•    Inagurating our new American Art Forum membership program, restoring our annual membership, and further connecting with and expanding our base of support.

•    Hiring one new full-time employee and increasing another from part-time to full-time, and; moving into a larger office space to accommodate the growing staff, additional volunteers and interns.

•    Installing a new server to guard information fundamental to the organization, and instating the use of new accounting, donor, and collections software to efficiently track, safeguard, and report on MMAA's most vital information.

•    Commencing a business plan that will provide a roadmap for establishing the future of MMAA and a new home in St. Paul.

Thank-you for being part of this journey, and part of the future of Minnesota Museum of American Art!
